Chef's Trip to London - January 2018
The chef’s and I recently made our annual trip to London to basically eat our way around the capital and draw on inspiration for our own menu here at Cloughjordan House.
It was certainly a few days to remember (we are still doing laps of the grounds here at CJH to work off all the amazing food we ate!) Here’s a list of some of the restaurants we visited and some of our highlight dishes:
Berners Tavern
32 Great Queen Street
26 Grains
Berners Tavern - undoubtedly one of London's most opulent dining rooms! We are pleased to report the food here lives up to its surroundings. A highlight dish was vanilla waffles!
Vanilla Waffles, Macerated Raspberries, whipped cream and grated chocolate
Deeper into Soho we joined the queue at Bao - a restaurant notorious for it's queue but definitely worth the wait..
Yakult Float at Bao, Soho
Bao - Taiwanese fried chicken with hot sauce
Chef Ali eyeing up my elderflower and ginseng spritz
26 Grains for some Nordic Pear Porridge - hot porridge served with coconut milk, oats, spices, seeds, cocoa crumble, coconut yogurt and chopped pear and apple - delicious!
The Barbary - Spicy fish wrapped in filo pastry and served with yogurt and corriander pesto
Cornish Crab Thermador with Thermador with garlic sourdough
Tenderstem broccoli with miso bangnacuda at Nopi
Blackberry Trifle at Lupins
